A Brush with Change My Art Journey

If you’d told me a few years ago that I’d be building a life around paint, canvas, and a growing collection of animal muses—I’d have smiled politely and gone back to the to-do list of my (very) busy business.

My art journey begins with paint, heartbreak and a whole lot of courage. For years, I ran a thriving clothing business with my husband, Rob. We were more than just a good team—we made things happen together. Rob was my biggest cheerleader, always supporting my ideas, no matter how wild they seemed. We created a life built on hard work, laughter, and creativity in its own way.

Then, life changed.

When I lost Rob, I found myself in a space I hadn’t prepared for. I didn’t want to recreate what we’d built—I couldn’t. I needed something new. Quietly, at first, I began painting. I picked up the brushes in the same way someone might reach for a warm cup of tea—seeking comfort, not answers. Animals became my companions on canvas: expressive, full of personality, full of soul. Each one seemed to say something I couldn’t put into words.

Art gently became more than therapy. It became a purpose. “What started as painting for peace has become a passionate new business that makes me smile every day.”

And now, here I am—covered in ink or paint most days, usually with a Highland cow or a hare on the go. I sell originals and prints, create commissions, travel to markets, and run art workshops for others who want to explore their own creative spark. I still work hard. I still dream big. And I still hear Rob’s encouragement in the background of it all.

This blog is the start of something new for me—somewhere I’ll share behind-the-scenes moments, creative thoughts, a bit of business life, and hopefully, a lot of joy. I hope it brings a smile, a pause, or maybe even inspiration.

Thanks for being here. Truly.

With paint on my hands and gratitude in my heart,
Chris
